I love my Western Digital hard drive. It easily fits in my pocket but swallows my data and materials. I am no longer worried about how to transport essential documents, publications and reports and it didn't cost that much. I am really pleased.

I bought this last year. It's worked fine until the other day it fell on its side (while unplugged mind you). Today I tried to plug it in to back up my iTunes. My computer wouldn't recognize the device. Apparently this is a common problem judging by the one star reviews here. I would look for something a little more shock resistant.

On the positive side, Western Digital's replacement program is good. I just received my second RMA replacement in the mail. I was a little worried because it didn't immediately work, but I tried a different USB cable and it worked fine.
These drives are unreliable. Do not use them as a place to store all of your data. Instead, if you really need a portable device, I'd say it works fine, but make sure you have a back-up somewhere else that is secure. Probably always good advice in any case, but here's my history:
My first drive broke when it slipped out of my hands and fell 3 feet. It wasn't running or anything, I was just coming home from work. WD replaced it very easily but I lost all the data contained on it.
The second drive that I got from them I decided to just leave on my desk and use it as an external drive. Eventually the drive just stopped working after it intermittently would unmount.
Now I'm on my third drive and I'm considering just selling it on Craig's List and being done with them altogether.

good price, good size and so useful, even for Mac OS. It was sent very quick and amazon customer attention was GREAT!
I recommend to buy a silicon case or something to protect it from scratches!

I have two external hard drives. One to backup my entire computer, I keep it plugged in and Mac automatically backs up in regular intervals. Everything about a mac is highly intuitive and this is no exception. I also have this product that I use to keep my media on. I keep photos, music, and movies on this drive and off of my laptop. When I want to access them, all I have to do is plug in the Passport and open iTunes, or open the photos folder.
I would never have had enough room on my laptop to hold all of my media. This product has been so simple to use and to set up for this purpose!
