i used one for backing up (fortunately) my music. within a couple months did not work what so ever. if i would have used it for my main storage i would have lost over 23,000 songs. plug it in and all it does it click.
i have a seagate freeagent XTreme that i back up to as well. i have had no problems with the seagate.

I just got this hard drive but all that I had to do was plug it in and it started backing everything up that I wanted backed up. All that I have really had to do so far is apply the settings that I like. It has worked great for now and if I was to buy another hard drive it would be this one again.
