 "Wrong size" 2009-07-23
By J. Hathaway (Lititz, PA United States)
I'm such a moron sometimes, I spent nearly an entire day cloning my Sony Vaio VGN-TZ270n/b hard drive, then...when I opened the Vaio to find it's a 1.8" SATA...my heart just sank.

Alas, I have no comments about this drive's performance since I was forced to return it. Thankfully, the Amazon.com folks are EZ returns...that's why I try to order from Amazon as often as possible.

"****EXCELLENT REPLACEMENT HARD DRIVE FOR LAPTOP****" 2009-07-10
By harley-rider77 (Made inthe USA)
I purchased this hard drive for a five year old Toshiba laptop running Windows XP. Installation was a snap and I've used it daily for the past month with no problems. This is the 80GB version (WD800BEVE 5400 RPM). It replaced a 60GB 4500 RPM that finally died. If you have an older laptop with an EIDE connection and you need to get some more life out of it, give this one a try. I am pleased and would buy it again.

"Largest of the older technology ATA100 drives" 2009-07-04
By William Tell (Northern CA.)
It was getting increasingly difficult to find large capacity ATA100 hard drives. This 5400rpm 320GB was the largest I was able to find. It runs cooler than the 7200rpm, 100GB Hitachi drive, that it replaced. (a definite plus in my laptop!).The difference in speed is not noticeable in most tasks, and the drive runs almost silently. Since it hasn't failed in the 4 weeks I've owned it, I can say that, to this point, the drive does what it was designed to do, and does it well.

"Brought new spark of life to an older notebook" 2009-07-03
By Lantana Al (Lantana, TX USA)
I upgraded a 30GB Hitachi drive (made in 2002 I think) in an older Pentium III Sony Vaio notebook with the 120GB version of the EIDE Scorpio Blue drive and it made a noticeable improvement in speed. I copied the old disk using Acronis True Image (had to "fix" the MBR with MbrFix.exe to get it to boot) and it worked great. Too bad the selection of EIDE drives (both HD and SSD) are limited and more expensive, but it you want to make an older notebook usable longer, upgrading an older drive is a great way to bring "new life" to it.

"Replacement Hard Drive for T41 Thinkpad" 2009-07-02
By G. Chan (California, USA)
Installed with no problems into my old T41 Thinkpad. Runs quiet and smooth compared to the worn-out drive it replaced. Boot time is quicker and the extra space is nice. A good upgrade for cheap on old laptops.
